Extras:
Warranty - Although Nordic Track usually offers 3 years on the motor, the 2200R comes with a lifetime motor warranty and a one year parts & labor warranty which is a huge improvement over the other Nordic Track economy models.
Weight Capacity - While most treadmills under $1300 have a 200-250 pound weight capacity, the Nordic Track 2200R has a higher 300 pound weight capacity which makes it a little more stable than similarly priced treadmills. Although this is still a little light, it's definitely not bad considering the price tag.
Lots Of Workout Options - The MyMiles™ Odometer and the Carb Counter™ help you track and meet your fitness goals. The 2200R is also iFit compatible which gives you a range of downloadable workout program options. It's really hard for you to get bored with this treadmill.
Reflex Deck™ technology - Reflex Deck Cushioning uses a precision-arched treadmill deck to react twice with each stride. As you step down, the deck flattens to absorb harmful impact, then springs back to its original shape.
This makes a comfortable running surface that propels you to your next step. Reflex Deck technology has received extremely positive reviews from both users and experts.
Strengths:
The 2200R is a good budget buy in the Nordic Track lineup. The lifetime motor warranty tells you about the quality of the motor construction and the 1 year parts and labor is a definite improvement on the old 90 day warranties some models use to carry.
Another plus is the Reflex Deck cushioning - which has actually rated quite well with treatmill testers and experts. Good cushioning is essential in any treadmill - and isn't usually found in many economy treadmills so you want to be careful.
Weaknesses:
While the value on the 2200 is good, compared to some other treadmills for this price, it is not excellent. The Smooth 5.45 for example offers a longer overall warranty, stronger motor, "Best Buy" ratings from experts and a higher incline capability.
Also, the 2200 is not recommended treadmill for runners or heavier users - the motor and light user weight capacity may cause problems with frequent use.
Overall Conclusion:
If you really love the Nordic Track name and want one of the better Nordic Track models under $1000, the Nordic Track 2200 is an option. Although we would have liked to see a stronger motor and longer parts warranty, the Nordic Track 2200 is still a decent value for the money - especially if you can get it for under $1000.
If you're looking for a good treadmill value under $1000, you might want to compare the Nordic Track 2200 with the Smooth 5.45 before buying.
