Proform Crosswalk 500 Treadmill

A Review of the Proform Crosswalk Treadmill
The Proform Crosswalk 500 Treadmill is a sturdier, more stable update on the older popular Proform crosswalk models.

The main advantage of the Crosswalk models is that you can work your upper body with upper body arm bars.  You can't find this on other treadmills and it's a great way to tighten and tone your arms as you walk.

Is the Crosswalk 500 a good fit for your needs?  Here's a quick review to help you decide:

Strengths:

Crosswalk Arms - You can work your entire body and burn more calories with the upper body arm bars. The adjustable resistance lets you choose an arm workout that fits your comfort level.

Crosswalk Arms are unique to these treadmills and not found on other brands.

1.75 HP Drive Motor - This type of motor power is actually decent for an economy model - plus it's covered by a 10 year motor warranty to protect your investment.

Interactive Audio CrossTrainer™  with 10 Personal Trainer Workouts - The Audio Crosstrainer is like a fitness coach.  It audibly and visually guides you through several strength-training exercises while you workout.  This helps burn maximum calories while building muscle mass.

You also get 6 Crosstraining workouts and 4 Calorie burn workouts. There are 2 upper-body, 2 lower-body and 2 total-body cross-training workouts. The calorie burn workouts focus on burning up to 500 calories in a single session.

350 lb Weight Capacity - This is actually quite high for a treadmill at this price point and indicates higher stability. Most treadmills under $600 will only give you around a 250 lb weight capacity.

20 x 55" Belt - Again, this is a decent sized belt for treadmill at this price point.  Most units under $600 have much smaller belts so the extra room to move around is nice.

Weaknesses:

This is an economy treadmill and while it's the best Crosswalk model out there, it's still not recommended for runners or heavy, prolonged use.

Also, since the parts warranty is so short (90 days) you may want to pick up extra coverage on checkout.

Conclusion:

The Proform Crosswalk 500 is an improvement on older Crosswalk models.  It has a higher motor power, larger belt, better warranty and more workout programs.

The main strength of this treadmill is of course the ability to train your upper body with the upper body arm bars.  You can optimize your workout time and build strength training into your workout.

Keep in mind that the Crosswalk 500 is still an economy treadmill and is probably not suited for runners or frequent users.  Overall, however this is the strongest, most stable Crosswalk model. And you can't beat this price anywhere.
