The advantage of the Crosswalk models is that they let you work your upper body with upper body arm bars. Plus you also get 2 Calorie burning workouts, EKG heart rate monitor and a 5 year motor warranty.
Is the Crosswalk 300 a good fit for your workout needs? Here's a quick review to help you decide:
Quick Stats:
Price: $599
Motor: 2.25HP Drive Motor
Speed: 0-10 MPH
Incline: 0-10%
Treadbelt: 18 x 50"
Folding: Yes
250 lb Weight Capacity
Strengths:
Crosswalk Arms - These let you incorporate upper body arm workouts and get a more complete overall body workout. Crosswalk arms are unique to these models and not found on other treadmill brands.
2 CrossWalk® Calorie Workouts - These are interactive fitness programs. They prompt you to use the CrossWalk arms throughout the workout. You can burn up to 350 calories in a single workout.
(Based on the ACSM's formula for caloric expenditure of a 185 lb. male performing all workouts as prescribed.)
5 year motor warranty - This is only an average motor warranty for a treadmill at this price point. There are some similarly priced treadmills that give you less and some that give you more. However please note that all other parts and labor are covered for only 90 days - which is not great.
ProSoft Plus™ Impact Reduction - Reduce the impact on your joints by up to 22% as compared to road running with this cushioning system. While this is not a bad cushioning system it would probably be best suited to walkers.
Weaknesses:
This is an economy model which probably will not hold up very well with frequent use. The belt is also extremely small at only 18 x 50" which doesn't give you a lot of room to move.
Overall Conclusion:
The main advantage to the Proform Crosswalk 300 treadmill is, of course, the ability to crosstrain by using the arms. The Crosswalk 300 is also obviously affordable for the home gym on a budget. Plus this treadmill has added some improvements over older Crosswalk models like better cushioning and specialized calorie burning workouts.
Having said this however, it's still an economy, bare bones treadmill that is not recommended for running or frequent use.
The belt is quite small and the warranty is quite short (90 days parts and labor) so you may want to go for the extra warranty coverage upon checkout to be safe.
