Proform 680 Trainer Treadmill
The Proform 680 Trainer Treadmill is a popular economy buy from Proform.

A nice surprise on this unit is the Intermix Acoustics 2.0 Sound system which is an upgraded speaker system from ICON/Proform - and better than the ones on some of the more expensive Proform models.

You also get a decent 2.8 HP motor, iPod dock, 10 built in workouts, and a bright orange easy-to-read console.

Is it the right buy for you?  Here's a quick review to help you decide:

1) Intermix Acoustics 2.0  Sound System - The built-in speaker system is an upgrade on older models and the sound is much clearer and louder than the past sound systems.

It's actually a bit surprising that Proform would put such a good sound system on one of their budget models since it's better than the ones on many of the higher end Proform units.

2) Bright Orange LED Console - The console on the 680 treadmill is pretty simple. Not a lot of bells and whistles here. However it is still very bright and easy to read - which is great especially if lighting is limited in your workout area.

3) Play Your Favorite Workout Mix with the iPod / Mp3 Player Jack - You can plug in, charge and play your iPod or Mp3 player, which is another feature to help make your workouts more enjoyable.

4) Workout Intensity Control  -  You can choose to raise or lower your workout intensity and the program will automatically adjust to make your workout more challenging.

5) Roomy 20 x 55" Treadbelt - Although this is an average belt size, for a treadmill at this price point it's actually very good. Most budget treadmills have much smaller belts that can make taller users feel like they're going to fall off the machine.

Weaknesses:

The 680 is a starter treadmill and not recommended for heavy running. While it does  have a few fun gadgets, it's still fairly simple.

The warranty is also a bit short - so you may want to buy extra coverage on checkout, just to cover yourself.

Overall Conclusion:

The Proform 680 Trainer treadmill is a budget treadmill with a few higher end features.  The sound system is a nice surprise since it's better than the ones on several more expensive Proform models.

You also get 10 workout programs designed by a certified personal trainer, a decent 2.8 HP motor, bright, easy-to-read console and a 20 year motor warranty.

While it's not a commercial grade machine, it's a decent little starter treadmill that would suit most walkers. And you can't beat the current sale price.
