Roomy 20 x 55" Treadbelt - Although this is an average belt size, for a treadmill at this price point it's actually pretty good.  It gives you enough room to move without feeling like you're going to fall off the treadmill.

Prosoft Cushioning Reduces Impact by 22% - This cushioning system reduces impact on your joints by up to 22%. Although it's definitely not the best cushioning system out there, it's still quite good for a starter unit and would probably be fine for most walkers.

12 Personal Trainer Workouts - You can choose from 12 personal trainer designed workouts which automatically adjust your speed and incline. There's also 2 customizable workout programs that you create yourself.

Heart Rate Monitor to Stay in Your Target Heart Rate Range - To monitor your heart rate, you just grip the EKG handles in front of you to get a reading on the console. This is a good way to stay in your target fat burning zone while workout out.

Folding To Save Space - Although this is fairly common, it's still a nice feature to have. The Proform 580 folds up to save you space - handy if your workout space is limited.

Weaknesses:

While the 580 is a great little budget buy, it's still a starter treadmill with only the basics. The console is very simple and while the 25 year motor warranty is excellent other parts are only covered for 90 days - so make sure you buy more coverage if you're worried about your investment.

Overall Conclusion:

If you're on a budget but still want a decent motorized treadmill, you'll probably be happy with the Proform 580 treadmill. It has some good basics like a 2.8 HP motor, large sized belt, heart rate monitor and several workout programs.

If you want a better value for the money however, you may want to check out the Sole or Nordic Track models first - which give you a lot more for around the same price.

Overall, there's nothing wrong with this treadmill - it's an average price - just a bit simple without a lot of bells and whistles.
