The Proform 550 Treadmill is one of Proform's newest 2008 treadmill models. At an affordable price, it offers some decent features that are usually not found on an economy model.
With a 2 user fitness journal, the Proform iLog 550 is especially suited to those people who want to track and log their progress. Often, seeing how far you've come can inspire you to go even further.

Strengths:
ifit® Fitness Journal - This is good for up to 2 users and lets you generate daily, weekly, monthly and yearly fitness reports
20 iFit Customizable Workouts - Each workout features ifit® training technology and customizable workout settings, so you change workout to better fit your needs. Plus you also get 8 more workouts including 4 Distance Training Workouts: 5K, 10K, half-marathon and Boston Marathon training workouts.
Excellent Warranty - With the Proform 550 you get a lifetime frame and motor warranty along with 1 year parts and service. At this price point, this is one of the better warranties on the market and a vast improvement over old Proform models.
Grafixx™ Display - The console on this treadmill is quite attractive and easy to read. The console can also visually display your heart beat or an animated figure walking, jogging or running through your workout with you.
12 MPH Speed Limit - It's rare to have a speed limit this high for a treadmill under $1000 - so rare we thought it was worth mentioning. Most treadmills at this price point only give you up to 10 MPH. People who want to really push themselves will appreciate this feature.
Universal iPod® Dock with Speakers - Plug in your iPod or mp3 player and listen to your favorite music through 2 built-in speakers.
Weaknesses:
While there are some great features on the Proform iLog 550, this is still an economy treadmill so it's not going to give you the construction found on a commercial machine.
If you're a frequent runner you might want to ante up and spend a bit more for something with a little more rugged construction like a Sole.
Overall Conclusion:
The Proform iLog 550 Treadmill is a great little treadmill for those who want to push themself to the next level. With the fitness journal it allows you to track your fitness progress - which can be very encouraging when you see how far you've come.
It also gives you some great tools like an iPod docking station, easy-to-read console, higher 12 MPH speed limit, customizable workouts and excellent lifetime motor warranty.
Although we haven't been entirely positive about Proform in the past, it seems the new models like the Proform iLog 550 are huge improvements over former models.
