Strengths:

30% Incline - Most treadmills offer inclines of 10-15%.  With an incline of up to 30%, you can burn more than twice the number of calories as compared to walking on a flat incline.

You can also build some amazing intervals into your workout with higher inclines.  This means faster results in less time plus interval training can boost your calorie burn even after your workout.

Adjustable Resistance Cardio Cables- You can get an overall body workout with these cardio cables built into the console.  There's 8 levels of resistance and you can tone your arms, chest and shoulders while you work out.  This is another feature that is not offered on standard treadmills.

Durasoft Impact Absorption System - Good cushioning is essential to your treadmill as it protects your hips, knees, back and ankles from injury.  The Nordic Track X5 Incline Trainer's cushioning system reduces impact on your joints by up to 28%, as compared to road running.

Lifetime Motor Warranty - The motor can be the extremely expensive to fix so you have extra peace of mind knowing your investment is protected.

iFit Compatible - While there are 23 built-in workout programs, the X5 Incline trainer is also iFit compatible. This means you can download even more personal-trainer-designed workouts to your machine from the Internet.

Weaknesses:

The motor power is a bit low compared to other Nordic Track models although 2.0 HP is not really that bad.  Also the belt is only 52" long so taller users or runners may find themselves wanting a bit more room to move.

Overall Conclusion:  Recommended

If you're looking for a great alternative to the Treadclimber, this is your machine.  It gives you the high incline (30%).  But unlike the Treadclimber you can run on it - with speeds up to 10 MPH. (Treadclimber speeds only run up to 4.5 MPH).  There's also a lot more room to move.

The X5 can also function as a treadmill or an incline trainer, depending on what you're in the mood for.  The upper body arm cables are unique to the X5 - not on treadmills or the Treadclimber. The console is bright and easy to read, showing you speed, pulse, time, distance, incline, elevation, pace, calories burned and fat calories burned

If you're just looking for a regular treadmill the X5 may not be the best option - especially if you're a runner.  But as an incline trainer - this is an incredible value.
