It reduces impact by nearly 40% compared to running outside. So if you're a runner or concerned about your joints, this is a great cushioning system to have.
DurX™ 3.5 CHP Commercial-Drive Motor - This is an incredible motor at this price point. It's got enough power behind it to support the extra long 60" belt. Plus it's covered by a lifetime motor warranty which gives you an idea of the quality of motor.
7" Flat Screen TV with Multi-Colored Displays - This is kind of like the icing on the cake - a 7" flat screen built in TV on a solid, well cushioned treadmill. You can watch TV and track your workout at the same time - or just choose to watch TV.

Weaknesses:
While the lifetime motor warranty is excellent we would have like to see a longer parts warranty on the treadmill - especially considering the TV. You can however buy extra warranty coverage upon checkout - which is recommended.

Nordic Track treadmills have improved tremendously over the past couple of years and the Nordic Track Apex 8500 treadmill is one of their best new models.
Sure it's got the goodies like TV and music port with speakers to fight exercise boredom. But what we really love is the Reflex Deck cushioning, strong motor power and extra long running belt.
If you're only planning on using your treadmill for light walking you could probably save a bit and go for a lower end Nordic Track model. But overall this is one of the best home treadmills for runners.
