Strengths:
Great Warranty - Compared to other economy treadmills, this warranty is pretty good: lifetime frame and motor, 1 year on parts and labor. (Compare this with many department store treadmills which offer you a 90 day warranty on motor, parts and labor).
Bright Blue Backlit LCD Console - The console on the T83 is attractive and sleek. The Bright blue LCD window makes reading your workout stats easy.
Up to 12 MPH - Most treadmills under $1000 only give you speed limits of up to 10 MPH so this is a nice add-on to the T83
16 Workout Programs - There are a lot of built-in programs on this treadmill - 16 to be exact. Programs include Manual, Intervals 1, 2 & 3, Weight Loss 1 & 2, Foothills, Golf Course, Rolling Hills, Mountain Climb, Golf 9-Hole, Golf 18-Hole, Pacer, Custom 1 & 2, 5K and 10k.
Weaknesses:
We would have liked to see a longer parts warranty on this treadmill (only 1 year). Also, the T83 doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles that you find on similarly priced treadmills like Nordic Track or Sole (i.e. iPod hookup, speakers, fitness tracking tools, etc.)
Overall Conclusion: Decent Value
Overall the Horizon T83 treadmill is a good value for an economy treadmill. You get a decent motor, up to 12 MPH speed limit, great warranty, bright blue console and lots of built-in workouts. All for under $1000
It would have been nice to see a longer parts warranty, but for this price, what you get is still pretty good.
The T83 would suit occasional walkers however we would not recommend it for runners or heavy usage. Similar treadmills to compare it to would be the the Nordic Track 2155 or the Sole F63
