The Horizon T1201 Treadmill is one of Horizon's higher end models with a heavier grade of construction.

You also get an extra long 60" belt to give you more room to move, advanced console with iPod dock, built-in speakers with input and headphone jacks, high 12 MPH speed limit and heart rate control.

For runners, there's a 3-zone variable cushioning system which means different levels of cushioning at different points in the belt - softer when you hit the belt and firmer when you push off. This can mean a more comfortable workout and longer running times.

Strengths:

1) Extra Long 60" Belt Gives You Extra Room To Move -  This is one of the longest belts in the industry. It's ideal for taller users or runners.  You can pick up your pace without feeling like you're falling off the treadmill.

2) iPod dock with Built-In Speakers - While this is becoming a fairly standard feature, it's still handy to have and can make your workouts go by a lot faster. You can plug in, charge and play your iPod or Mp3 through speakers built into the console.

There's also a headphone jack - which many treadmills do not have - if you want privacy while charging and listening to your iPod.

3) Variable Cushioning For More Comfortable Workouts- The T1201 uses a 3 zone variable cushioning system. This means there are different levels of cushioning at different points in the belt.

There are high levels of cushioning where your foot hits the belt and firmer cushioning where you push off. This can make for a more comfortable workout - and can even help you go further and last longer.

4) Advanced Console With Bright, Easy-To-Read Statistics - The T1201 carries Horizon's most sophisticated, advanced console. There are 2 large red LED feedback windows along with an addition communication window that gives you workout stats as you go.

5) Up to 12 MPH Speed Limit - Most treadmills only give you up to 10 MPH speed limits. This is fine if you're a walker, but runners often want to go further. The T1201 gives you up to 12 MPH speed limits which can help you push yourself to the next level.

Weaknesses:

The T1201 has a lot of solid, strong basics however, it doesn't carry a lot of the more advanced fitness tracking tools of other brands. Most of the money here went into construction. If you're looking for built-in TV's or loads of workout programs, you may want to look elsewhere (like the Nordic Track line for example.)

Overall Conclusion:  Recommended

The Horizon T1201 treadmill is one of Horizon's top models with a more sophisticated console, powerful motor and longer 60" belt.  It is stronger and more rugged than lower end Horizon units with a stronger base, higher user weight capacity, thicker belt and more advanced user programs.

You don't get a lot of bells and whistles, compared to similarly priced models.  But you do get a well-built, strong stable treadmill.

While it's probably not suitable for frequent running, overall when you compare it to other store brands, the T1201 offers good build and design value.
